Agartala, January 20: In an alarming development, students of Nabakumar Chowdhurypara High School in the Manai Pathar ADC Village area are grappling with a severe shortage of teachers, significantly impacting the quality of education. The situation has reached a critical point, with a total student population of 291 from the Class I to the 10 and only six teachers currently available to address their educational needs.

The shortage intensified with the recent transfer order of a science teacher, further aggravating the discontent among students. In response to this development, students voiced their displeasure in front of the media, questioning the feasibility of running classes effectively with such limited teaching staff.

According to the students, five out of the six teachers, including all science teachers, have received transfer orders. This leaves them questioning the future of their education and the ability of the school to provide comprehensive learning experiences.

Santosh Debbarma, the head teacher of the school, echoed the concerns of the students, emphasizing the prolonged teacher crisis and expressing apprehension about conducting classes if the science teacher departs.

The School Management Committee, led by President Sanjit Pal and other committee members, expressed their frustration to journalists, highlighting the urgency of addressing the teacher shortage. The discontent reached a tipping point on January 19, as students went to the school to witness the atmosphere of agitation.

In a clear and stern statement, the students warned that if their demand for additional teachers is not met within a month, they will escalate their protest to join a larger movement. Their primary demand is for the education department to promptly appoint the necessary teachers to address the critical shortage, and they conveyed their willingness to take to the streets in protest if required. The situation remains tense as the educational community anxiously awaits a resolution to the pressing teacher crisis at Nabakumar Chowdhurypara High School.
