Governor pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day

Agartala, 30th January 2024:   On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu paid homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at two different locations in Agartala on Tuesday. He first laid a wreath at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near the Circuit House and then visited the Gandhi Ghat to offer floral tributes at the Gandhi Altar. He was accompanied by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, who also joined him in honoring the Mahatma.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Ghat, the Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi led the freedom struggle of India with his principles and ideals. He urged everyone to follow the path of peace and harmony shown by the Mahatma and work together for the progress of the state and the nation. He also praised the people of Tripura for their participation in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a campaign inspired by Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness.

Other dignitaries who paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion included Additional District Magistrate of West Tripura district Prashant Badal Negi and Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee.
