Mayor chairs Steering Committee Meeting of 42nd Agartala Book Fair

Agartala, 6th February 2024:   In a significant step towards fostering literary enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy, the 42nd Agartala Book Fair is all set to commence on February 21, coinciding with Language Day. The steering committee, led by Agartala Municipal Council Mayor and organizing committee chairman Dipak Majumdar, convened at the Agartala Municipal Corporation’s conference hall on Tuesday to discuss the strategic planning and overall management of the upcoming literary extravaganza.

Attended by notable figures including Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal, Chief Whip of Tripura Assembly Kalyani Roy, literary writers, publishers, and officials from the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, the meeting aimed to ensure a seamless and aesthetically pleasing experience for traders participating in the fair.

Mayor  highlighted the extensive preparations undertaken by the steering committee, emphasizing that the book fair has undergone substantial changes since the transition of government. Notably, the fair is scheduled to begin on February 21, aligning with Language Day, adding a cultural dimension to the event.

The mayor further disclosed that, following the appointment of the organizing committee chairman, eight sub-committees have been formed to streamline the fair’s operations and enhance the overall experience for attendees.
