Agartala, February 10: With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, the All Tripura Unorganized Workers Congress (ATUWC) convened a crucial meeting at the TB Hall in the capital city on Saturday. The meeting was attended by several prominent leaders of the Pradesh Congress, including its president Ashish Kumar Saha, MLAs Sudip Roy Barman and Gopal Chandra Roy, and others.

The meeting aimed to address the various issues and demands of the unorganized workers, who constitute a large and significant segment of the electorate. The ATUWC members expressed their grievances and expectations from the Congress party, which is the main opposition in the state.

Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha assured the unorganized workers that their party would stand by them and fight for their rights. He said that the Congress would launch a series of agitations in the coming days to pressurize the ruling government to fulfill the demands of the unorganized workers. He accused the government of being pro-corporate and anti-poor, and said that the Congress would expose its failures and corruption.

The meeting was seen as a strategic move by the Congress to woo the unorganized workers, who have been largely neglected by the government in terms of social security, minimum wages, health care, and other benefits. The Congress hopes to gain their support and votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are expected to be a close contest between the Congress and the ruling party.
