Agartala: August 24. The deputy leader of opposition Badal Chowdhury on Wednesday written a letter to the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha demanding his to open a Primary Health Care in Tripura Bazar in Belonia as the construction of the PHC was almost complete during last part of Left Front regime.

In the letter to CM who is also health minister said, on the basis of the recommendation of a Committee that was formed by the government, the former Left Front government had decided to set up a PHC at Tripura Bazar in Sarasima Gram Panchayat, near Belonia Town under Hrishyamukh Block.

” The Committee justified setting up of this Hospital with an objective to render medical services to more than 10,000 people residing in Amjadnagar, Bashpadua, Tripura Bazar, Killa Mura, Jharjhari, Joykatpur, Sarasima, North Sarasima, North Sonaichhari Gram Panchayat and Sonaichhari ADC Village.  Majority of the people of these Gram Panchayats and ADC village comprise scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and minority Muslim Communities”, the letter reads.

Badal further wrote that considering the urgency and importance of this Hospital, the then Left Front government allocated fund from its own exchequer without waiting to include the expenditure in any central scheme.

“The construction of the PHC including quarters for Doctors and other staff was almost complete during last part of Left Front regime except some finishing tasks. Reportedly, the Tripura Bazar PHC is now ready to open. But the government is contemplating to use this PHC including all apparatus of the Hospital in different purpose instead of formally opening the PHC. If it is true, I strongly object to the decision of the government and earnestly insist to dedicate the PHC for the service of the people of the areas as early as possible”, the letter of Chowdhury reads.
