Agartala, 19th February 2024 :   The Sadar District Congress staged a protest march on Monday against the alleged conspiracy of the Modi government to freeze the bank accounts of the National Congress party for political vendetta. The march was led by Prabir Chakraborty, the spokesperson of the Pradesh Congress, who accused the BJP of misusing its power and violating democratic norms.

The protesters gathered in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhavan and marched through various streets of Agartala city, raising slogans against the BJP and the income tax department. They reached the Income Tax Bhavan and staged a sit-in demonstration there for several hours.

Chakraborty addressed the crowd and slammed the BJP for targeting the Congress after the Supreme Court exposed its financial scam involving electoral bonds. He claimed that the BJP government had resorted to buying MLAs with electoral bonds and when the apex court exposed its corruption, it tried to divert the public attention by freezing the bank accounts of the Congress.

He said that the Congress would not be intimidated by such tactics and would continue to fight for the rights of the people. He announced that a protest program would be organized in front of the income tax Bhavan in the coming days.
