Agartala, 27th February 2024:    Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the former Chairman of Tipra Motha and scion of the Tripura Royal family, expressed his concerns on Tuesday, asserting that the Indian government cannot achieve “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” without addressing the needs of the indigenous people in Tripura.

During his inspection of the preparations for an indefinite hunger strike scheduled for February 28 at Hatai Kotor (formerly Baramura Hills) in the West District of Tripura, Debbarma spoke with reporters. He stressed the significance of prioritizing the indigenous community over political considerations, emphasizing that government initiatives benefiting the Tipra Motha would also positively impact the broader indigenous population, known as Tiprasa.

Highlighting the challenges faced by the indigenous population, Debbarma pointed out that approximately 95 percent of them are landless. He underscored that securing land rights would be a collective benefit for everyone. Additionally, he expressed his commitment to advocating for the indigenous people, stating that he would continue fighting for their rights until his last breath.

Despite his health challenges, Debbarma asserted that his dedication to securing benefits for his community remains unwavering. He dismissed personal ambitions for political positions, such as minister, MLA, or MP, emphasizing that his focus is on serving the people and making necessary sacrifices. Debbarma called upon the Government of India to recognize that achieving “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” is contingent upon addressing the concerns of the indigenous population. He urged the government to provide written assurances of their commitment to the well-being of the indigenous communities.
