Tripartite agreement signed in Delhi between centre, state governments and TIPRA Motha

Agartala, 2nd March 2024 :  In a landmark development on Saturday, a tripartite agreement was signed in Delhi between the central government, the Tripura government, and the Tipra Matha, marking a significant step towards resolving longstanding issues in Tripura. The agreement was met with cheers from the people of Baramura as it promises to address various concerns including history, land rights, political rights, economic development, identity, culture, and language of the Tripura tribals.

Key provisions of the agreement include the establishment of a joint working group/committee to address these issues in an amicable manner. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment for the implementation of the agreement, urging all stakeholders to refrain from agitation or protest until the joint working committee is formed.

The signing ceremony, attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tripura Chief Minister Prof (Dr) Manik Saha, former Chief Minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb, Cooperative Minister and IPFT leader Shuklacharan Noatia, Tipramatha ex-supremo Pradyut Kishore Debbarma, opposition leader Animesh Debbarma, Motha president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhwal and other dignitaries, marked a historic day for Tripura.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the agreement as a significant step towards achieving peace and harmony in Tripura, signaling the state’s gradual transition towards a conflict-free environment.
