Agartala, 20th March 2024: The Irani Police Station has apprehended a suspect allegedly involved in the abduction of a minor from the Magruli Sheikhpara 5 Ward area. The accused, identified as Zahid Hasan, son of Phul Mia, was reportedly involved in forcibly taking a 14-year-old girl from the Boulabasa area of Kailashahar. Authorities are currently investigating the case.
According to local sources, Zahid Hasan was accompanied by another unidentified youth during the abduction. However, the second individual’s identity remains undisclosed.
Following the incident, residents of the affected area along with representatives from various organizations converged at the Kailashahar police station to demand action. Subsequently, the father of the abducted minor filed a formal complaint against Zahid Hasan.
In a swift operation, coordinated efforts from the Kailashahar Mahila Police Station and Irani Police Station led to the rescue of the minor from Zahid Hasan’s residence in Ward No. 5 of Maguruli Sheikhpara.
The news of the rescue prompted residents and organizational representatives to stage a protest outside the Kailashahar police station, blocking roads and setting tires ablaze. Demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and stringent punishment, tensions escalated as protesters clashed with fire department personnel who attempted to extinguish the flames. The situation intensified when protesters began hurling bricks at the fire department vehicle, forcing them to retreat.
However, amidst the chaos, locals managed to apprehend Zahid Hasan from his residence, handing him over to the authorities.
