Agartala, 20th March 2024 :  A coalition of eight parties led by INDIA Bloc, including Gana Manch, CPIM-L, and TPP, has announced their united front to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. The announcement came after a confidential meeting held at the Agartala Press Club on Wednesday.

The coalition has established an election campaign committee comprising 25 members, with Jitendra Chowdhury and Sudip Roy Barman serving as joint conveners. The committee includes notable figures such as Birajit Sinha, Piyush Kanti Biswas, Manik Dey, Pabitra Kar, Narayan Kar, and Milan aidya, among others.

Addressing the media post-meeting, MLA Sudip Roy Barman articulated the coalition’s intent to present a unified opposition against the BJP. He criticized the current government for failing to deliver on its promises, including the provision of 2 crore jobs annually and the repatriation of black money. Barman accused the BJP-led government of deception and looting, asserting that the coalition represents the people’s power against the alleged autocratic tendencies of the current administration.

Jitendra Chowdhury echoed Barman’s sentiments, emphasizing the coalition’s commitment to garnering public support in the upcoming electoral battle. The presence of leaders like Ashish Kumar Saha, Piyush Kanti Biswas, Manik Dey, and Pavitra Kar at the meeting underscores the diverse representation within the newly formed alliance.

The coalition’s formation signals a concerted effort to dethrone the BJP, which has been accused of undermining democracy and creating a state of anarchy through agencies like the ED and CBI. With the Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, this alliance aims to rally the support of the populace to facilitate a significant shift in the political landscape of India.
