Agartala, 5th April 2024:  In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections, the Ramnagar constituency is set to deploy two Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) per polling station, allowing voters to cast their ballots for both elections simultaneously.

This announcement was made by Returning Officer and DEO Dr. Vishal Kumar on Friday, who outlined comprehensive measures to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process.

Dr. Kumar highlighted the provision of a dedicated helpline number for voters encountering any issues during the voting process, ensuring immediate assistance. In addition, sensitive areas have been identified, and adequate security measures, including the deployment of central forces, have been implemented to maintain peace and order.

To oversee the proceedings, micro observers are undergoing specialized training, with the Election Commission prioritizing the conduct of peaceful elections. Dr. Kumar emphasized that no voter would be hindered from reaching the polling station, with security arrangements in place to swiftly address any irregularities within five to ten minutes.

Furthermore, in the interest of security, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras will be installed outside polling stations to monitor activities. Dr. Kumar reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards any irregularities and assured that swift actions would be taken to resolve any issues that may arise during the electoral process.

With these comprehensive measures in place, the Election Commission aims to ensure fair, transparent, and secure elections in the Ramnagar constituency, upholding the democratic principles of the nation.
