Agartala, 23rd April 2024:   In a daring move, a group of thieves targeted the Power department office in close proximity to the Teliamura police station, causing a stir before the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The brazen theft took place late Monday night, with the perpetrators making off with various electrical equipment belonging to Power department’s work.

Details emerging from the scene indicate that the break-in took place sometime during the night, with the thieves gaining access to the store room of Division 2 within the Teliamura Power Department premises. The incident was only found by office staff on Wednesday morning.

Anirudha Das, Manager of Division 2 at the Teliamura Power Department, revealed that employees on night duty were present in the office until approximately 3 a.m. However, despite their presence, the theft seems to have been executed with precision, suggesting a well-coordinated effort by the culprits.

The proximity of the Power Department office to the Teliamura police station raises questions about the effectiveness of security measures in place, particularly given the heightened security concerns surrounding the upcoming election. Concerns have been voiced within various circles regarding the adequacy of safeguards, with the theft serving as a stark reminder of vulnerabilities that need to be addressed promptly.
