Congress Must Stand Alone in Tripura, Avoid CPIM Coalition for Political Rejuvenation: Pradyot

Agartala, 24th April 2024:  Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the founder of TIPRA Motha, asserted today in Agartala that the path to revitalizing Congress in Tripura lies in strengthening their party autonomously rather than aligning with CPIM, which would only diminish the grand old party’s influence.

Speaking at a press briefing, Pradyot underscored his opposition to CPIM, highlighting that the upcoming parliamentary elections in the East constituency would witness an anti-CPIM sentiment among voters.

“Despite the highest voter turnout in 75 years, the development in Tripura’s tribal regions remains notably inadequate. The previous CPIM regime prioritized Agartala and its vicinity, neglecting the genuine needs of tribal communities such as basic infrastructure including roads and water supply. This longstanding issue spanning over seven decades demands urgent attention,” he remarked.

Pradyot reiterated his stance against CPIM, extending it to the electoral battleground of East Tripura.

“While I harbor goodwill towards Congress, I have refrained from criticizing the party during campaigning. However, it’s evident that former Congress supporters are now inclined towards CPIM. Our alliance is firmly positioned against CPIM, and on April 26, the electorate will cast their votes against them. It’s imperative for Congress to reclaim its strength independently. Any collaboration with CPIM would only erode their political foothold,” he emphasized.
