Agartala, 18th May 2024: The West Tripura District CPIM Committee has outlined a set of ten-point demands aimed at addressing critical challenges faced by people residing in rural and remote areas of the district. These demands cover a range of essential areas, including employment, food security, water supply, electricity, and infrastructure development.
According to the Secretary of the West District CPIM Committee Ratan Das, the situation in various parts of West Tripura district has become increasingly dire. The plight of impoverished individuals has worsened due to the scarcity of work opportunities, inadequate food supplies, unreliable access to clean water, and insufficient infrastructure. Recently, the acute shortage of fuel, including petrol, diesel, and CNG, has further exacerbated the crisis.
In response to these pressing issues, the committee has presented the following ten-point demands: The committee urges the government to promptly allocate a sufficient number of jobs to job card holders; Various line departments should prioritize providing employment opportunities to unorganized sector laborers; Poverty-stricken individuals must receive free food items to alleviate hunger and nutritional deficiencies; Rural and tribal-inhabited areas, as well as slums, require improved access to clean drinking water; and urgent attention should be given to infrastructural development projects.
In response to these demands, a deputation from the committee met with the District Magistrate of West Tripura district on Saturday, emphasizing the urgency of addressing these critical issues. The committee remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for the welfare of the local population.
