Agartala, 5th June 2024:   Pradesh Congress Committee MLA Gopal Chandra Roy today demanded that Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha take immediate steps to prevent the post-poll violence in Agartala city. Roy’s statement came after an attack was launched on the house of Gautam Nandi yesterday in Banamalipur.

The MLA alleged that Gautam Nandi’s wife was ill and during the attack, Gautam was not present. “The attackers were drunk. They vandalized the gates and boundary, and also snatched a gold chain. A case was filed with the West Agartala Police Station. I have also asked for police to be deployed in this area to prevent any further incidents. I want to tell Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha that if such incidents are taking place in the city, what about the villages? I demand the immediate arrest of the culprits and that steps be taken to stop such violence,” he said. He further mentioned that he has visited the victims and so far, no arrests have been made. “I urge the state government to provide the necessary help to the victims and ensure the immediate arrest of those responsible,” he added.
