Agartala, June 14: SC Welfare minister Sudhangshu Das on Friday outlined the department’s achievements in the 2023-24 financial year and set forth ambitious goals for the 2024-25 fiscal year. “This past year has been pivotal for the SC Welfare Department as we’ve played a crucial role in facilitating the admission process for students across various educational institutions in the state,” stated Das.
He highlighted the department’s commitment to the education of the SC community, emphasizing the timely distribution of scholarships and the effective implementation of schemes designed to benefit students. “Ensuring that our students receive the benefits they are entitled to within the stipulated time frame remains a top priority,” he added.
The meeting also addressed the operational aspects of the SC Welfare Department’s hostels for boys and girls, which are integral to supporting the educational journey of many students. Das provided updates on income generation schemes, reflecting on both the success stories and areas where improvements are needed.
Das candidly acknowledged the impact of the Lok Sabha election on the department’s workflow, citing the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) as a cause for a three-month delay in operations. However, he assured that corrective measures are being taken: “We are setting targets for officials from all eight districts to expedite and complete the pending works on time.”
The SC Welfare Department remains resolute in its mission to empower the SC community through education and economic opportunities, despite the challenges posed by the electoral process. Das concluded with a call to action for his team, urging them to uphold the department’s standards of excellence and to ensure that every initiative reaches its intended beneficiaries without delay.
