Agartala, September 05, 2022: Unemployed pharmacists gathered in front of Civil Secretariat here on Monday to meet with the Health minister and raise their demands for recruitment in 659 posts announced by the state cabinet.

One of the Pharmacists told reporters that they have assembled in front of Civil Secretariat to meet with the Health minister as the Director of Health Services assured them of recruitment, but till now no official procedure has started. The state government took two decisions to appoint pharmacists, but so far, no appointment has been made.

“The council of ministers took decision to recruit 412 pharmacists in Allopathy, 22 pharmacists in Homeopathy and 25 pharmacists in Ayurveda on December 10, 2021. The department has issued no official notification for recruitment so far. We met with the Director of Health Services several times and submitted applications, the official assured us that the process will began soon. But nothing has been done”, he added.

Majumder said “Another decision of recruiting 200 Allopathy pharmacists was taken in August last, but no official notification has been issued till now. As we find no hope from the Director, we are here to meet with the Health minister and seek his intervention to start the recruitment and complete it before election.”

He also said that there are more than 3500 unemployed allopathy pharmacists and about 100 unemployed Ayurveda and Homeopathy pharmacists across the state. “We hope that the government would be kind toward us. However, we will hold larger movements in the coming days if government fails to complete the recruitment”, he added.
