Agartala, 19th July 2024: Border Security Force (BSF) stationed in Belonia Sub-division, South District of Tripura, has detained five Bangladeshi nationals. According to a BSF press statement issued on July 18, a special operation was launched based on specific intelligence in the border area of Belonia. During this operation, five Bangladeshi individuals, including three women, one man, and one boy, were apprehended while attempting to illegally enter Indian territory.
The detained individuals have been identified as Nazima Begum (40), Salma Begum (50), Nazima Begum (28), Yasim Sheikh (11), and Md Akhter (34). They are residents of Madaripur and Barisal districts in Bangladesh. All of them were found in possession of Indian identity documents such as Aadhar and PAN cards and were en route to various locations in Delhi. The BSF is currently questioning them.
The BSF has recently intensified its surveillance of suspected touts and is closely monitoring their activities to prevent infiltration. Special efforts are being made to dismantle the networks of touts and facilitators who provide shelter, logistics, and fake documents to facilitate illegal movement within the country. The BSF is committed to cracking down on illegal migration by Bangladeshi nationals and has increased vigilance in border areas.
