Agartala, 21st July 2024: West Tripura district witnessed a vibrant celebration of Guru Purnima on Sunday at the Muktadhara Auditorium in the capital city. The event was inaugurated by Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Agartala Swami Shubhakarananda Maharaj, who lit the ceremonial lamp marking the beginning of the festivities.
The celebration saw the presence of Deputy Director of the District Information & Cultural Affairs department Amrita Debbarma among other dignitaries.
Deputy Director Amrita Debbarma emphasized the importance of Guru Purnima in her address, highlighting the cultural significance of the day. “Guru Purnima is a very significant day. Today’s children are not aware of this important tradition. The Department of Information and Cultural Affairs has been observing this day specially for the last four years to educate them about Guru Purnima,” she remarked.
Debbarma further explained the department’s initiative to engage the younger generation. “We invite boys and girls on this occasion to make them aware of this day. Our aim is to instill in them the value of respecting their teachers and mentors. I believe that our surroundings will become more beautiful in the coming days as we continue to nurture these values,” she said.
The event was a blend of traditional rituals and educational activities, designed to foster a deeper understanding of the significance of Guru Purnima. The presence of cultural leaders and the enthusiastic participation of young attendees underscored the community’s commitment to preserving and promoting this important cultural heritage.
