Agartala, 3rd September 2024: The Government of Tripura, the Central Government, and representatives from the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), two banned militant outfits in Tripura, are set to sign a significant Memorandum of Settlement on September 4.

According to a press statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs, this important event will take place in New Delhi in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Memorandum of Settlement will be signed among the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and the representatives of NLFT and ATTF. Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Tripura, will also be present at the ceremony.

The Ministry’s statement emphasized its ongoing efforts to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed and peaceful Northeast, free from extremism, violence, and conflict. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the government has already signed 12 significant agreements to foster peace and development in the region, three of which pertain specifically to Tripura. These agreements have led to around 10,000 individuals renouncing armed rebellion and reintegrating into mainstream society, contributing to the region’s ongoing progress and stability.
