Agartala, 8th September 2024: A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Sharad Samman and Mayer Gomon was held at the Muktadhara Auditorium in the capital, with the initiative spearheaded by the Department of Informational and Cultural Affairs.
The meeting was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who laid out plans for the celebration amidst the challenges posed by recent floods in the state.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saha emphasized that while calamities like floods have set the state back by three to four years, it is important to celebrate Durga Puja with enthusiasm. He, however, stressed that no individual or organization should be pressured into making contributions for the puja.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s significant losses due to the floods, making recovery difficult, but expressed optimism about the festival season. He proposed holding the grand carnival in front of Ujjayanta Prasad and called upon major clubs from Agartala to actively participate. Saha also encouraged the use of social media to promote the carnival, which he believes will attract visitors from outside the state.
Other notable attendees included AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, AMC Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, and officials from the Department of Information and Culture.
