Agartala, 20th September 2024:    The Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) handed over a Tripura resident, Challa Fru Mog, to the Border Security Force (BSF) after he was allegedly abducted during a visit to Bangladesh.

According to a BSF statement, Challa Fru Mog was handed over at around 10:30 AM in the presence of immigration and police officials from both India and Bangladesh. The incident unfolded after Mog’s wife, Swapna Mog, reported his abduction to BSF personnel at the Belonia Border Outpost on September 19.

“On September 19 at about 10:30 AM Swapna Mog wife of Challa Fru  Mog resident of Mogpara, Radhanagar under South Tripura district visited Border out post  Belonia  and approached BSF Coy Commander regarding abduction of her husband in Bangladesh.  Responding with alacrity to the grievance of Swapna Mog, BSF approached BGB at the appropriate level. BSF and BGB acted in tandem displaying synergy which ensured  the safe and timely return of Challa Fru Mog”, said BSF.

Mog, a resident of Mogpara, Radhanagar in South Tripura district, had traveled to Bangladesh on September 13 to visit relatives using a valid passport and visa through the Land Customs Station in Belonia. While returning, he was allegedly abducted by a group of Bangladeshi miscreants, who demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh for his release.

In response to Swapna Mog’s urgent appeal, the BSF acted swiftly, coordinating with the BGB to secure her husband’s safe return. The collaboration between the two forces demonstrated seamless cooperation and resulted in the timely rescue of Challa Fru Mog.

The BSF’s prompt action in resolving the situation has been highly praised by the local border population.
