Agartala, 28th September 2024: In a significant drug bust, the East Agartala police station recovered 45 packets of ganja from a car during a raid based on secret information. Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar revealed that the market value of the seized ganja is approximately ₹70 lakh. The driver of the car has been arrested.
Dr. Kiran Kumar stated, “We received a tip-off that ganja would be smuggled out of the state by lorry. Acting on this information, the police conducted an operation.” During the operation, a vehicle from Nagaland was seized at the Chandrapur ISBT area. Upon searching the car, 45 packets of ganja, weighing a total of 355 kg, were found hidden in a secret chamber. “The market value of the recovered ganja is approximately ₹70 lakh,” reiterated Dr. Kumar.
The car is currently detained at the College Tila outpost. The driver, identified as Mithun Karmakar, a resident of Ramnagar, was en route to smuggle the ganja to Melaghar when he was apprehended.
