Agartala, 1st October 2024:  Tripura BJP has expelled its Vice President, Patal Kanya Jamatia, citing anti-party activities and indiscipline. This decision follows Jamatia’s recent announcement to establish a new political party, the Tripura People’s Socialist Party (TPPS).

In an official statement, the BJP declared, “Bharatiya Janata Party Tripura Pradesh Committee Vice-President Smt. Patal Kanya Jamatia has been expelled from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party for anti-party activities and indiscipline. The expulsion is effective immediately, as per the order signed by Amit Rakshit, General Secretary of the Pradesh Committee, on the instructions of the Province President.”

Following her announcement of the new political party, Jamatia expressed her intention to focus on social upliftment through the TPPS. She also mentioned plans to launch the Tripura People’s Farmers Organisation, a cooperative initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship within the community.

When asked about the legitimacy of her simultaneous involvement with the BJP and her new party, Jamatia defended her stance, stating, “If a representative from the Tipra Motha Party can compete and win elections under the BJP banner, then I, too, have the right to engage with another political entity.”
