Agartala, 17th October 2024:   The Editor of the Headlines Tripura National news channel Pranab Sarkar lodged a formal complaint with West Agartala Police Station on Thursday accusing the Facebook page “CPIM Tripura” of slander and defamation. Sarkar alleged that the page had illegally posted and distorted his original Facebook statuses and images, engaging in personal attacks against him.

In his complaint, Sarkar claimed, “The CPIM Tripura page has systematically slandered my name by stealing my content, editing it with malicious intent and spreading false narratives. This is not the first time I have been targeted by personal attacks without any proof.”

He further stated that he had provided evidence to support his claims, including original posts and the altered content allegedly shared by the page. “I have enclosed proof of how CPIM Tripura distorted my words and propagated lies. This act of defamation is deliberate and calculated,” Sarkar remarked.

Sarkar urged the authorities to take appropriate action against the page under the Indian Penal Code and the Cyber Wing Act of the State Police, emphasizing the need to stop the “vile propaganda and personal attacks.” The investigation is expected to proceed based on the evidence provided.
