Government allocates funds for smartphone purchases for 10,556 students

Agartala, 18th October 2024:  The state government has allocated Rs 5.27 crore to purchase smartphones for 10,556 students across 38 government colleges under the Chief Minister Yuva Yugayug Yojana. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced the release of these funds at an event held today at the Smart Training Center of the Information and Technology Department’s Head Office.

The Department of Information Technology is overseeing the implementation of this project. According to the scheme, final-year students from various government colleges will receive a grant of Rs 5,000 each for purchasing smartphones in the academic year 2022-23.

The event was attended by JR Jeshan B, Director of the Information Technology Department, along with other department officials and students from various colleges. This initiative aims to enhance digital connectivity and support students in their academic pursuits.
