Agartala, 19th October 2024:   Just days after the establishment of Aryavart University in the Mission Tilla area in Dharmanagar sub-division, a wave of complaints has emerged from students regarding serious grievances against the university administration. Reports of mental harassment have surfaced, particularly aimed at students who have voiced their concerns about unresolved issues.

“Before Durga Puja, we approached the principal regarding our demands, but instead of addressing our concerns, the situation escalated into a confrontation,” shared a frustrated student who wished to remain anonymous. Despite their efforts, students claim their problems remain unaddressed, prompting further action.

In a recent development, a new director was appointed to engage with students and parents, raising hopes for resolution. However, students expressed disappointment, stating that the new director had not made any appearances to date. “We feel abandoned. The director hasn’t even shown his face to us, and our issues are still on the table,” remarked another student, highlighting the growing frustration among their peers.

Tensions escalated further during an interaction between students and university authorities. Deepak Bancher, the university registrar, reportedly lost his temper during discussions and demanded that students leave the premises. “On behalf of the District Superintendent of Police, I was informed that we cannot protest,” Bancher asserted, which has raised questions about the treatment of students.

The registrar presented a copy of an order invoking Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, leaving students perplexed. “Why did the new director abruptly exit the meeting? We are just seeking answers,” a concerned parent questioned, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability from the university administration.

Parents have voiced their frustrations, alleging that the university has faced multiple issues since its inception. They pointed out the absence of a functioning library system, which was only established under student pressure. “It’s unacceptable that students had to fight for basic facilities,” a parent lamented.

Additionally, students expressed concerns over academic performance, stating that many have failed their exams. “We have serious doubts about the results; it feels like there’s no fairness in the evaluation process,” one student commented, echoing sentiments of confusion and distrust. Some students even reported incidents of police presence and attempts at forceful dispersal during protests.

As tensions mount, the future of Aryavart University hangs in the balance, with students and parents calling for immediate attention to their grievances and a commitment to resolving the ongoing issues. “We just want a safe and supportive learning environment,” concluded a student representative, highlighting the collective plea for change.
