Agartala, 24th October 2024: In an effort to combat noise pollution during the upcoming Diwali festival, the Amtali police station has successfully seized illegal firecrackers worth Rs 40,000.
According to police sources, Mrinal Pal, the second officer of Amtali police station, received a tip-off about the storage of firecrackers on Wednesday night. Acting on this information, he, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Gopal Das and other police personnel, set up a checkpoint in front of the police station.
During the operation, the police stopped and searched a car bearing registration number TR05A-1713 coming from Maharajganj Bazar in Agartala. Inside, they discovered a large quantity of firecrackers. “The driver of the car failed to produce any valid documents for the firecrackers,” said Mrinal Pal. He further added that 480 packets of firecrackers were confiscated from the vehicle, with an estimated market value of Rs 40,000.
This seizure highlights the administration’s commitment to ensuring a safer and quieter Diwali for the community. The Amtali police continue to remain vigilant against such illegal activities.
