Agartala, 26th October 2024: In anticipation of Diwali, which falls on October 31 this year, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha visited Kumar Para in the capital to purchase clay lamps and other items made by local potters. Diwali, celebrated on Amavasya in the month of Kartik according to Hindu scriptures, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. It is an occasion that brings people of all religions together to light lamps and celebrate.
On Saturday, Dr. Saha toured several houses in Kumar Para, engaging in conversations with the potters. He then bought various clay items, including lamps, from them. Speaking to the media, he emphasized the significance of supporting local artisans. “In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ call, I believe it is crucial to support our local potters. Their products are now more attractive than ever, thanks to modern manufacturing methods,” Dr. Saha said.
He further urged everyone to buy locally-produced items during Diwali to help boost the state’s economy. “I urge everyone to brighten their homes with products made by our talented local artists this Diwali. It not only supports their livelihoods but also promotes a self-reliant Tripura,” he added.
Expressing his satisfaction after visiting the potters, Dr. Saha remarked, “I am very happy to talk to the potters and see their dedication. Prime Minister Modi is steering us towards a self-reliant and best Tripura, and we are moving in that direction.”
The Chief Minister concluded by extending his best wishes for Diwali to the people of the state. Local officials accompanied him during his visit, reflecting the administration’s commitment to supporting and promoting local artisans.
