Agartala, 1st November 2024: BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee accused the previous Left government of financially depriving government employees in Tripura over the last 25 years. He contrasted this with the BJP coalition government’s recent decision to support government employees by announcing a 5 percent dearness allowance as a Diwali gift.
“Despite financial constraints, the Tripura government has prioritized the welfare of government employees and pensioners. The state government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 500 crore for this 5 percent increase. We thank Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha for this generous decision,” Bhattacharjee stated while briefing reporters here yesterday.
Bhattacharjee criticized the previous CPM government, claiming they deliberately avoided increasing salaries for government employees. “The CPM government believed that increasing salaries would not create jobs for the unemployed. This led to prolonged financial deprivation for government employees,” he remarked. “For 25 years, the CPM government misled the employees in various ways.”
The announcement of the dearness allowance has been welcomed by government employees, who see it as a much-needed relief during the festive season. Bhattacharjee emphasized the BJP’s commitment to standing by government employees and ensuring their financial well-being.
