Greece PM discusses with PM Modi opening of two new consulates in India

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a productive conversation over phone with the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis during which the two leaders discussed strengthening of bilateral cooperation across trade, defence and shipping.

PM Modi said in a post on X:

“Yesterday, had a productive conversation with PM @kmitsotakis, reaffirming our shared commitment to strengthening the India-Greece Strategic Partnership. Together, we aim to deepen our collaboration across trade, defence, shipping and connectivity. Greece is a valued partner for India within the EU as well.”

The Greek PM’s office said that PM Mitsotakis discussed the opening of two new consulates by his country in India, in Mumbai and Bangalore, in the near future.

They also discussed cooperation between the two countries in the context of Greece’s term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 period.

“The two leaders also discussed the prospects of deepening bilateral relations on the basis of the strategic partnership, which they adopted in a joint statement during Modi’s official visit to Athens in August 2023, as well as the further strengthening of cooperation, particularly in the field of investments.”
