Agartala, 16th November 2024 :   A video of Moynal Hossain, the Tehsildar of Brajapur under the Charilam assembly constituency demanding extra money for government services has gone viral on social media since 2 PM on Saturday. In the video, Hossain can be heard saying, “Work cannot be done without extra money.”

According to reports, Tehsildar Moynal Hossain has been engaging in such practices for a long time, asking for bribes from people seeking various government services, including land brokerage. On Saturday afternoon, a resident visited the tehsil office to obtain necessary papers for his house’s land. Hossain told the resident, “I will get your papers done, but you have to pay extra money for it. Work cannot be done without a single penny.”

The video has sparked outrage among the local community. “Despite receiving a substantial salary from the government, he is always trying to extort money from the people,” said a local resident. The incident has raised concerns about corruption within the tehsil office and the need for strict action against such practices.

The authorities are expected to investigate the matter and take appropriate measures to address the issue. The viral video has brought to light the challenges faced by citizens in accessing government services without falling victim to corruption.
