Agartala, 2nd December 2024:   The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced plans to enhance security measures at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, along with its Deputy and Assistant High Commissions across India.

In response to an incident earlier today at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, the MEA issued a statement expressing regret:

“The breach of the premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala is deeply regrettable. Diplomatic and consular properties must not be targeted under any circumstances. The government is taking swift action to bolster security arrangements for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and its Deputy and Assistant High Commissions across the country.”

The move follows a protest by a right-wing group that stormed the Agartala office, reportedly burning Bangladesh’s national flag and causing chaos. The demonstration was held in protest against the alleged persecution of minorities and the arrest of ISKCON member Chinmoy Das Prabhu in Bangladesh.
