Bishramganj police arrest five drug peddlers in market raid

Agartala, 6th December 2024:   In a significant anti-drug operation, Bishramganj Police Station staff arrested five drug peddlers during a raid in the Bishramganj market on Friday. The police recovered a substantial quantity of drug paraphernalia during the operation.

OC Subimal Debnath reported that the raid was conducted based on a tip-off. The police seized 400 Yaba tablets, 125 vials of brown sugar, 17 mobile phones, and Rs 25,000 in cash from the arrested individuals. The suspects have been identified as Anurupam Dutta, Jamal Hossain, Ram Datta, Jayanta Ghosh and Rahul Saha, all residents of the Bishramganj police station area.

A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The successful operation highlights the police’s commitment to combating the drug menace in the area.
