Emphasis on safety for electricity workers in Tripura: TPTL holds training program

Agartala, 9th December 2024:    : Ensuring the safety of electricity workers involved in risky jobs is crucial, not only for fulfilling their service responsibilities but also for the well-being of their families. This was highlighted during a recent initiative by Tripura Power Transmission Limited (TPTL) to prioritize worker safety and risk reduction in their operations.

“Electricity workers play a vital role in emergency services, and their safety cannot be ignored. A single mistake can often be fatal,” emphasized a TPTL officer. Authorities have been raising awareness and implementing precautionary measures to mitigate risks faced by their skilled workforce.

TPTL has reiterated the importance of following general safety and security rules. Workers are required to use safety equipment, such as gloves, helmets, waist belts, discharge rods, and safety shoes, and ensure they are free from defects. Any issues with the equipment must be reported to the authorities immediately.

“A mistake in electricity work can be irreversible. Legal measures, trials, punishments, fines, and compensations are meaningless if a life is lost,” the official added. Workers must take necessary precautions, obtain permission from the appropriate officers, and follow proper procedures to prevent accidents.

In line with these safety measures, a two-day training on safety and security for engineers and power workers has been organized with the support of TPTL and Power Grid. The training will take place on December 9 and 10, 2024.

The inaugural session on December 7, 2024 featured the unveiling of TPTL’s safety manual and a safety-related documentary. Additionally, spare parts and materials will be distributed among the power workers. The Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath attended the event as the chief guest, along with TPTL General Manager Ranjan Debbarman.

“The safety and health of our workers are paramount. We are committed to ensuring they return home safely to their families every day,” stated Ratan Lal Nath.
