Agartala, 9th December 2024: A large group of unemployed youth staged a vociferous protest in front of the Shiksha Bhavan on Monday demanding the immediate publication of recruitment notifications for Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), STGT and STPGT positions. The demonstrators also submitted a deputation to the Teachers’ Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT) Chairman Dr. Pratyush Ranjan Deb pressing for swift action on the matter.
“We have been waiting for two long years since the TET and STGT exams were conducted in 2022, yet the recruitment process remains stagnant. Our future is at stake,” said one of the protesters when confronted by journalists at the protest site.
Despite repeated appeals to the Chief Minister and TRBT, the protesters claim to have received no definitive response. “We have sent numerous letters to the Chief Minister and even involved the ADC administration, but no action has been taken. Today’s protest is our way of reminding the authorities of their responsibility towards us,” another protester added.
The gathering included several B.Ed and D.Ed graduates, a demographic that continues to grow across the state. “The number of B.Ed graduates is increasing every year, but without recruitment, we are left in a dire situation. The government needs to act now,” emphasized a demonstrator.
The unemployed youth stressed the urgency of their demands, calling for the TET recruitment notification to be published by the end of this month. “The delay is unacceptable. If the government does not act, we will intensify our protests,” they warned.
Today’s protest, which saw participants rally in front of the City Center and Shiksha Bhavan, reflects growing frustration among the educated unemployed in the state, who await opportunities to contribute to the education system and secure stable livelihoods.
