Agartala, 17th December 2024:   Former Tripura Pradesh Congress President and current MLA, Birajit Sinha, voiced concerns on Monday over the escalating situation in neighboring Bangladesh, warning that it could have adverse effects on India-Bangladesh relations across various dimensions.

Sinha emphasized the significance of maintaining peace and stability in Bangladesh, highlighting the historically close ties between the two nations.

“The situation in Bangladesh is deeply worrying. India and Bangladesh share a longstanding and cordial relationship, especially since the time of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The current political turmoil in Bangladesh is concerning, and we strongly hope for the restoration of normalcy. Otherwise, it will be the people living along the border areas who will bear the brunt of the fallout,” Sinha remarked.

He further underscored the need for constructive relations, stating that hostility toward India would serve no purpose.  “The situation must stabilize at the earliest; otherwise, both countries stand to lose,” he added.
