Agartala, 22nd December 2024:  The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee today announced that the party would hold a ‘Baba Saheb Ambedkar Samman March’ on December 24 in Agartala to protest against the purported statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

“To divert attention from the objectionable comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the framer of the Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is being falsely accused of pushing a BJP MP. The Congress will hold a long march in every district on December 24 to protest,” said MLA Sudip Roy Barman during a press conference.

He stated that the objectionable comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar have been condemned not only by the Congress but also by people across the country.

“The entire nation is shocked by such comments from the Union Home Minister. These remarks reveal his mentality and demonstrate the BJP’s divisive mindset. The ruling BJP seems intent on undermining the protective rights of the Scheduled Castes,” he said.

Sudip further added that although the entire country is protesting, the ruling BJP has yet to express regret or withdraw the comments.

“Instead, to divert attention from the national outrage over these objectionable remarks, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is being falsely accused of pushing a BJP MP. However, Congress wants to make it clear that such diversion tactics will not work. Making comments that hurt a section of the population weakens the country and its democracy. Shah’s remarks indicate a lack of belief in democratic principles,” he told reporters.
