Bhutan King, Mauritius FM attend funeral ceremony of ex-PM Manmohan Singh

Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the Foreign Minister of Mauritius Dhananjay Ramful attended the funeral of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi today.

The Bhutan King was seen attending the funeral alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP ministers, including Amit Shah.

In Port Louis, Mauritius PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam visited the Indian High Commission and signed the Condolence Book opened in memory of former PM Manmohan Singh.

As a mark of respect, the Mauritius government has directed that all the national flags are to be flown at half-mast today.

On Friday, the Bhutan King and Queen Mother held a special prayer ceremony in memory of ex-PM Manmohan Singh who passed away on December 26.

The King and the Queen Mothers offered Karmi Tongchoed or one thousand butter lamps in memory of the late former Prime Minister.

The prayer ceremony was also attended by the Bhutanese Prime Minister, the Indian Ambassador and senior officials of the Royal Government and Government of India. Similar prayer ceremonies were also held across all 20 Dzongkhags.

“As a mark of respect to the late former Prime Minister and in solidarity with the Government and people of India, all national flags across the country and at Bhutan’s Embassies, Missions, and Consulates abroad are being flown at half-mast.”
