Israeli PM, Turkish prez hold first meeting since 2008

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met, making the first face-to-face talks between leaders of the two countries since 2008, Lapid’s office announced.

They met on Tuesday in New York on the sidelines of the ongoing 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Lapid’s office said in a statement.sraeli PM, Turkish prez hold first meeting since 2008

During the meeting, they discussed the counter-terrorism efforts in Israel and elsewhere, as well as “economic and energy cooperation and regional developments,” added the statement.

Highlighting the restoration of Israeli flights to Türkiye, Lapid said it would “contribute greatly to strengthening tourism between the nations.”

In August, the two countries agreed to restore full diplomatic relations and dispatch ambassadors and consuls-generals.
