Residents protest against eviction of Jesmin Akter at Rajnagar

Date:

Agartala, December 30: The residents of Rajnagar have once again voiced their protest against the eviction of Jesmin Akter. Today, they submitted a deputation to the area’s MLA and Mayor Dipak Majumdar.

Previously, locals had staged a protest and submitted a deputation at the West Women’s Police Station demanding Jesmin’s arrest. Jesmin Akter, a resident of the area near Rajnagar School has been allegedly involved in drug trade and other antisocial activities. Following complaints from the local club and residents, the police conducted a raid at her house and recovered firearms and narcotics. Although she was arrested, Jesmin was later released.

On December 26, local residents surrounded the SP office demanding Jesmin’s arrest and warned of a larger movement if the police did not cooperate.

With frustration mounting over the lack of police cooperation, residents have now approached Mayor Dipak Majumdar. The community submitted a deputation to the Mayor, seeking action against Jesmin Akter. The residents are now waiting to see what steps the Mayor will take on this matter.
