Agartala, 17th January 2025:   Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya on Friday accused the CPIM and Congress of disrespecting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Indian Constitution, despite now organizing rallies and conventions in his name.

Addressing the media during the BJP’s “Gaurav Abhiyan” rally in Agartala, Bhattacharya alleged that the opposition parties’ recent activities were mere theatrics, pointing to their past actions that undermined Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy. The rally, part of the BJP’s “Sangvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan,” aimed to raise public awareness about the Constitution and expose what Bhattacharya described as the CPIM and Congress’s history of dishonoring Dr. Ambedkar.

“Congress and CPIM’s rallies are nothing but a farce. They have repeatedly insulted Dr. Ambedkar. We are educating people about their hypocrisy. Congress, under leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi, and Indira Gandhi, conspired against Dr. Ambedkar, even ensuring his defeat in elections. Congress has violated the Indian Constitution several times,” Bhattacharya said.

Highlighting a specific instance, Bhattacharya said that during a by-election, a CPIM leader called on voters to tear up their ballots rather than support Dr. Ambedkar. “Today, CPIM is holding rallies in his name. This is sheer hypocrisy. CPIM has a history of disrespecting the Constitution,” he added.

Bhattacharya also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions, noting that the government is developing five pilgrimage sites associated with the architect of the Indian Constitution.

The “Sangvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan” will include similar rallies across all districts of Tripura as the BJP continues its campaign to emphasize the significance of the Constitution and Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy.
