Agartala, 28th January 2025:   Pradesh Mahila Congress President Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty strongly protested against the harassment of two students and a teacher during a train journey. Pradesh Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty was also present at the conference.

The incident took place on January 26 when Paritosh Pal, a teacher at Hari Radha Vidya Mandir in Hadrai under Teliamura police station, was taking two students home by train. Some Congress leaders stopped them, questioning the teacher’s permission to leave the hostel with the students. Despite Paritosh Pal’s attempts to prove his authenticity, the Congress leaders handed him over to the police. He was released only after the students’ guardians arrived at the police station. Angered by the Congress leaders’ actions, the students boycotted the school on Monday, demanding justice for their teacher. Paritosh Pal has since filed a complaint with the railway police against the leaders involved.

During the press conference, Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty condemned the incident, stating, “The harassment of teachers and students in this manner is unacceptable. We strongly protest this incident and demand justice.” Pradesh Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty echoed her sentiments, saying, “The issue of harassment by Congress women leaders is highly condemnable. Teacher Paritosh Pal should look at this incident with forgiveness, as it was suspicious.”

Chakraborty further clarified that neither the Pradesh Mahila Congress President nor the District President was involved in the harassment. “All this happened without their knowledge. There may be some other conspiracy behind linking their names with this incident in the media and social media,” she added.

Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty expressed regret on behalf of the Pradesh Mahila Congress, stating, “I came to know about this issue after seeing the news published in the media. I did not know about this incident earlier. We strongly protest the incident and express our regret.”
