Agartala, 30th January 2025: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura on Thursday accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] of misleading the public, claiming that the opposition party is struggling to accept the state’s ongoing development.
Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty alleged that the CPI(M) had organized Wednesday’s public rally to spread misinformation, as it cannot tolerate the progress Tripura has made under the BJP-led government.
“The CPI(M) never prioritized development during its long rule. Now, they are trying to create an atmosphere of instability in the state by misleading people with false narratives,” Chakraborty said.
He further accused senior CPI(M) leaders, including Prakash Karat and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, of making baseless claims at the rally while ignoring the visible progress in Tripura.
“For 35 years, the CPI(M) governed by suppressing democracy and fostering corruption. Their political strategy was built on division and deception. Now that the BJP government is dedicated to the welfare and progress of the people, the CPI(M) finds itself unable to cope,” he added.
Chakraborty also claimed that, during its tenure, the CPI(M) often forced people to attend its rallies through coercion.“Under the BJP’s leadership, Tripura has moved past such undemocratic practices. As the state continues to develop under Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, the CPI(M) is resorting to spreading falsehoods in an attempt to create unrest. However, the BJP remains committed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ ensuring inclusive growth for all,” he asserted.
