Agartala, 30th January 2025:  A five-member delegation from the Left Party submitted a deputation to the Director General of Police on Thursday, demanding a fair trial in the custodial death case of Badal Tripura. CPI(ML) State Secretary Partha Karmakar urged the authorities to complete the trial by submitting a chargesheet at the earliest.

After submitting the deputation, Karmakar stated that Badal Tripura, who was arrested on October 13, died in police custody on October 17. The family of the deceased suspects that he died due to police torture.

In response to the incident, the SI and constable of the concerned police station were taken into custody. However, even after more than three months, the police have not yet submitted a chargesheet to the state government.

“The family of the deceased has not been compensated. We demand a fair trial by submitting a chargesheet at the earliest and providing financial assistance to the family,” said Partha Karmakar.

The incident has created a sensation in the state, raising questions about the role of the police. Various quarters have expressed concerns over the handling of the case and the delay in the submission of the chargesheet.
