Karnataka: Pvt school in Kalaburagi receives hoax bomb threat

Date:

A private educational institution in the city received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday, prompting immediate evacuation of students and staff, police said.

Kalaburagi Police Commissioner SD Sharanappa stated that as soon as the authorities were alerted, local police rushed to the spot and carried out an extensive search operation with the assistance of an anti-sabotage team and a bomb disposal squad.

“After a thorough screening of the premises, the threat was confirmed to be a hoax,” he said.

Officials revealed that the email’s subject line referenced an RDX bomb blast, while its content was written in Tamil. Upon translation, it was found to discuss Tamil Nadu politics, raising suspicions about the intent behind the threat.

A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to trace the source of the email, police added.
