Agartala, 19th February 2025 : The government is actively promoting the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana, urging citizens to take advantage of the initiative to reduce their electricity bills and contribute to the country’s renewable energy goals. In an effort to raise awareness, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) in collaboration with the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited organized a public awareness and registration camp at the East Zonal Office in Ashram Chowmuhani here today.
In this event, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, AMC East Zone Chairman Sukhamoy Saha and several officials from the TSECL.
Addressing the gathering, MP Bhattacharjee emphasized the immense benefits of the scheme, stating, “The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana is a golden opportunity for citizens to free themselves from the burden of monthly electricity bills. By adopting this initiative, people can also generate additional income by selling surplus electricity to the grid.”
He further elaborated on the government’s commitment to renewable energy, remarking, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is determined to transform India’s energy landscape. We are currently dependent on natural gas and fuel, but their availability will decline over time, and prices will rise. Hence, the government is actively promoting solar energy to ensure a sustainable future.”
Highlighting the economic vision of the Prime Minister, Bhattacharya added, “PM Modi has envisioned India as a global economic powerhouse, aiming to place our country among the top three economies in the world. This scheme aligns with his commitment to making India a developed nation by utilizing green and renewable energy sources.”
Mayor Dipak Majumdar also encouraged people to register for the scheme, emphasizing the government’s financial support. “The central government is providing subsidies on a per-kilowatt basis to facilitate easy adoption. We urge every eligible citizen to participate and take full advantage of this initiative,” he stated.
Officials from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited provided demonstrations and assisted attendees with the registration process during the event. They assured that the scheme would be implemented seamlessly and would bring long-term benefits to both consumers and the state’s power infrastructure.
