Agartala, 22nd February 2025 : Under the slogan “Juri River Clean-Up Campaign,” the Dharmanagar Municipal Council and local residents have initiated a river clean-up operation starting today.
The campaign was inaugurated at the banks of the Juri River near the old motor stand in Dharmanagar with a floral tribute and lamp lighting at the feet of Goddess Ganga. The event was attended by Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Das Sen, Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, councillors from all wards of the municipal council, and local residents.
As part of the clean-up drive, activities were conducted in three locations today: the Dharmanagar Motor Stand, the area adjacent to the Padmapur Gaurakshanath Temple, and the Dighalbak area.
Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen personally participated in the cleaning efforts, wielding a spade to help clean the Juri River. In an interview, he stated that not only the Juri River, but also other streams within Dharmanagar town will be cleaned. He called for active participation from the town’s residents to collectively create a clean and environmentally-friendly Dharmanagar.
