Agartala, 23rd February 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar Police Station officials successfully conducted an anti-cannabis operation in the Jarulbachai area on Saturday night. Acting on a confidential tip-off, the police seized a total of 13 kg of cannabis and arrested a suspected drug dealer.
The operation was spearheaded by SDPO Shankar Chandra Das and Inspector Dilip Debbarma, Officer-in-Charge of Srinagar Police Station. During the raid, police recovered the contraband, which was packed into eight separate packets. The accused, identified as Kishore Debbarma, was taken into custody and brought to the police station for further interrogation.
Following the seizure, police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the accused. He was presented before the court on Sunday for further legal proceedings.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday night, a sub-inspector of Srinagar Police Station provided detailed information regarding the operation, emphasizing the department’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes in the region.
Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the crackdown against narcotics trafficking.
