Drug-trafficking cases: 162 men and 79 women arrested in three years

Agartala, 24th March 2025:   In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Tripura Government reports the seizure and destruction of over 54 lakh kilograms of cannabis plants, 8 lakh kilograms of dried cannabis, and 8.5 lakh kilograms of cannabis seeds over the past three years (2022-2024).

From March 2023 to February 2025, 99 cases have been filed under the NDPS Act and related laws. Authorities have arrested 162 men and 79 women for cannabis trafficking during this period, highlighting intensified efforts against drug-related crimes.

Minister in-charge of Home department i.e. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha informed on the second day of the state assembly’s budget session in reply to the queries of CPIM MLAs Jitendra Chaudhury, Sudip Sarkar and Nirmal Biswas and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman.
